About This Site
This vision for this site began as my academic and professional worlds merged. The conversation commenced after a state meeting of superintendents and assistant superintendents. A small group emerged from the convening and asked the very simple, but powerful question: Are the high schools in our districts meeting the needs of all students? From that succinct question, we decided to engage in cross-district action research. We committed to closely examine where we are and where we need to be to prepare our students for a globally competitive marketplace. Shortly after our first meeting, a professor from my doctoral program created an opportunity for students to examine and propose possible solutions for a relevant problem of practice. This site represents an attempt to connect the worlds of academia and secondary education as scholar-practitioners. Throughout the process, we will share our analysis of our current high schools and potential solutions for 21st Century transformations of those structures. It is time for redesign.
